Our client worked as a mechanic for 33 years for his former employer. One day, our client was exposed to an unsafe situation at work, about which he complained to his supervisor. Because of his complaint, his colleagues harassed him and physically threatened him.
Our client continued to complain, but his complaints fell on deaf ears. Our client had no choice but to escalate his complaint to corporate HR. In retaliation for that complaint, the supervisor set our client up for termination.
First, our client was put on probation for a ridiculous reason. Ten days later his 33-year career came to end when our client was accused of violating a trivial policy which the employer had never enforced. We litigated this case for nearly two years.
We attended two mediations, and we left both early after about 2 hours when it was clear that the employer was not valuing the case properly. They did not take the case seriously until we were on the footsteps of trial. The case settled about 3 weeks before trial.
